For the second time in two months football fans in South Africa queued through the night for tickets to the final of the World Cup after extra tickets went on sale Friday two weeks before kick-off.

FIFA made an extra 90,000 World Cup tickets covering all 64 games available Friday, including around 800 tickets to the final on July 11.

But frustration reigned again as FIFA’s ticketing system crashed just after the tickets went on sale at 9 a.m., Johannesburg’s 702 Radio reported.

The system also crashed on the day tickets went on sale over the counter in South Africa April 15.

Hundreds of people were standing in line outside ticketing centers in Johannesburg and Cape Town when the sale start. Some had braved chilly overnight temperatures of under 7 degrees in the hope of securing tickets to games that had previously been listed as sold out.

Besides the final, many people were hoping to book a place at the opening between South Africa and Mexico in Johannesburg’s Soccer City stadium June 11.

In total, 160,000 tickets out of 2.88 million for sale were still available for purchase by Friday morning.

FIFA says it has sold 96 per cent of the tickets so far and that the extra tickets became available after the finalisation of seating arrangements.

At various stages over the past few months extra tickets have become available as FIFA’s ticketing agency Match returned tickets from unsold World Cup packages and football associations around the world also returned unsold tickets from their allocation.

The tickets are being sold in FIFA ticketing centers in the nine host cities, in branches of First National Bank, in select supermarkets and through FIFA’s internet site and call centre.

This is seriously one of the most unfortunate years for deaths in metal that we can think of. In little more than a month, we’ve lost Peter Steele, Ronnie James Dio, and now Paul Gray. If it does indeed turn out to be drug related, it’s an extremely unfortunate turn of events from one of the most popular bands in metal. This is all preliminary, but if Gray is leaving behind a wife and a kid that will grow up never having met his dad, it’s the ultimate selfish move.

Forming in 1995, Slipknot burst onto the nu-metal scene with their self-titled album. Known initially for their appearance and masks, the nine-member band subsequently won over many fans that initially dismissed them with their mix of heaviness and their impressive stage show. The first three Slipknot albums have all gone platinum. Their fourth, 2008’s All Hope is Gone, was their first to debut at #1 and will go platinum later this year.

The PPV opened with a funny video about society “setting limits” with stock footage of old speed limit signs, which switched into a package highlighting the top matches on the show, noting the participants would go “over the limit” to win. The announcers welcomed us to the show, and the entranceway includes two sports cars on the stage.

Intercontinental Champion Drew McIntyre vs. Kofi Kingston.

Kofi went right at McIntyre at the bell, hitting some punches. Drew shoved him back, but Kofi hit some kicks to the leg and a dropkick. McIntyre went to the floor, and Kofi hit him with a tope. McIntyre got the better of the fight on the floor, but back in the ring Kofi hit a splash in the corner and a clothesline. McIntyre rolled to the floor again, but Kofi got to the apron and pulled Drew up with him. McIntyre shoved Drew back first into the ringpost, and he fell to the floor. McIntyre rammed Kofi into the ring apron, and tossed him into the ring. Drew beat down Kofi in a corner, then hit a knee to the midsection and a gutbuster for a two count.

McIntyre put Kofi in a seated abdominal stretch, while the fans chanted for Kofi. Kingston powered up and hiptossed out, then hit some shots to the body. McIntyre reversed a whip, and when Kofi went for a leapfrog in a corner, Drew kicked him in the gut. Drew stomped Kingston in the back of the head, then went to the second rope and dove off, but Kofi hit an upkick to the face. Kofi hit some forearms to Drew’s face, then a series of chops and a dropkick. Kofi straddled McIntyre in the corner and hit some punches, then flipped out and elbowed him. McIntyre pushed Kofi away, then tossed him into the ropes. Kofi slipped while landing on the ropes, but pulled himself up on them and back kicked McIntyre. Kofi hit a top rope bodypress, but Drew rolled through it, lifted Kingston and hit a gutbuster for a two count.

Kofi reversed a throw and sent McIntyre shoulder first into the ringpost. Kofi kicked McIntyre into the corner so he was laid across the bottom rope, then gave him the Boom Drop legdrop. Kofi pulled Drew out and got a two count. Kofi called for the Trouble In Paradise Kick, but Drew ducked it. Drew went for his double arm DDT, but Kofi turned it into the SOS (legsweep cradle) for the clean pin at the seven minute mark.

Winner and new Intercontinental Champion: Kofi Kingston.

Kingston left with the belt, and McIntyre grabbed a microphone at ringside and started calling for Teddy Long. McIntyre got in the ring and said the PPV was going to stop until Long comes out and reverses the decision. Instead, out came Matt Hardy, in street clothes. Hardy stood in the ring and stared at Drew. McIntyre charged Hardy, but Hardy laid him out with a Twist Of Fate. Hardy left, and McIntyre was holding his head and glaring at Hardy.

Backstage, CM Punk did an interview into a mirror, asking who would “save” the drunk fans in Detroit, who would leave with his purity intact, etc. Luke Gallows and Serena answered every question with “CM Punk.” Punk said Rey Mysterio would be joining them tonight. Gallows wasn’t happy about it, but Punk assured him it was for the best. Gallows and Serena hugged him, while Punk looked in the mirror and stroked his hair.

The angle on Raw where Ted DiBiase offered R-Truth the “Virgil” job, and Truth slapped him, was shown.

DiBiase was accompanied by Virgil. Matt Striker said that he was paying Virgil a contract three times as big as the one his father gave him. Cole said DiBiase got his trust fund early because he made it to a Wrestlemania match. Otherwise, he would have had to wait until he was 30. Truth and DiBiase traded armbars. I think there were chants for Virgil. DiBiase grabbed R-Truth in a waistlock, but Truth grabbed an armbar and flipped him to the mat. A frustrated DiBiase slapped Truth, and Truth responded with a slap and a flurry of punches. Truth leapfrogged DiBiase, ducked under a shot, and hit a side kick. Truth then knocked DiBiase to the floor.

Virgil went to check on DiBiase, and got in a staredown with Truth. Truth avoided a DiBiase attack and threw him back in the ring. Truth got in the ring, but Virgil distracted him and DiBiase hit a neckbreaker. DiBiase hit some punches, then tossed Truth to the floor. DiBiase rammed Truth into a security wall, then tossed Truth back in the ring and hit a flapjack for a two count. DiBiase stomped Truth down in a corner, but Truth came back with right hands, only to be clipped by a DiBiase clothesline. DiBiase put Truth in a chinlock. Truth started to fight up, and DiBiase hit a back suplex. DiBiase went to the second rope, but jumped into a Truth punch to the midsection. Truth hit a forearm in the corner, then put DiBiase up on the top rope for a superplex.

Truth and DiBiase fought for position, and DiBiase knocked Truth to the mat. Truth responded by crotching DiBiase on the top rope. Truth hit a pair of clotheslines, then a hiptoss. Truth hit a Flatliner for a two count. Truth missed an ax kick, and DiBiase slammed Truth with an Electric Chair for a two count. Truth ducked a DiBiase punch, and they fell to the mat as Truth looked to be going for a single leg crab, but DiBiase grabbed the ropes. Truth gave DiBiase a vertical suplex into a stunner for a two count. Truth hit the Lie Detector corkscrew forearm for the clean pin at the eight minute mark.

Winner: R-Truth.

Backstage, Theodore R. Long was talking with someone on the phone, when Drew McIntyre burst in and demanded that the result of his match be changed. Long said he couldn’t do that. McIntyre demanded he change the result, and fire Matt Hardy. Long said he wouldn’t. Drew started to rip up Long’s office. When he got to the picture of Martin Luther King Jr., Long told him to stop, and begged him not to damage it. Drew said he wouldn’t, because King was a revolutionary, and that he (McIntyre) was a lot like King. McIntyre walked off, as Long glared at him.

Drivers to Watch in NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race

Kevin Harvick

Harvick remains the leader as the Cup Series heads into a non-points weekend with the All-Star Race at Lowe’s Motor Speedway. Harvick has a 69-point lead in the standings. Points racing resumes on May 30 with the Coca-Cola 600. Harvick finished 15th in last year’s All-Star Race at Charlotte Motor Speedway and did not lead a lap. He won the 2007 race.

Kyle Busch :

Busch finished seventh in last year’s All-Star Race but led 33 of the 100 laps. “Last year’s All-Star Race was really quiet for the majority, and then the last 10 laps, if I would have had a car that was capable of running up front and leading the laps, I would’ve gotten to the front and been gone,” Busch said. “Unfortunately for us, our car was way too tight in the last segment.

Jimmie Johnson :

Johnson took a big drop, losing two positions in the standings, and is 131 out of the lead. Johnson finished 13th in this race last year after leading a race-high 50 laps. Johnson won the 2006 and 2003 All-Star races.

Denny Hamlin :

Hamlin climbed a position in the standings and is 150 out of first place. Hamlin was fourth last year but never led a lap. “Our team is just clicking right now,” Hamlin said. “We’re getting good finishes on our worst race track, and that’s what we need to do. It was a step in the right direction for sure.”

RECEIVES DEVASTATING NEWS AS TESTS SHOW HE HAS A HOLE IN HIS HEART OR PATENT FORAMEN OVALE (PFO)

Bret Michaels was readmitted to the hospital this week after suffering numbness on the left side of his body, predominately his face and hands which doctors described as a Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA) or warning stroke. While MRI and CT scan tests were being conducted, Michaels also received a Doppler Ultrasound of his legs and lower abdomen looking for blood clots and most importantly an Ultrasound Bubble Test of his heart was conducted which proved positive for a Patent Forum Ovale (PFO), a hole in the heart. Dr. Zabramski (Bret’s neurosurgeon), Dr. Becker (who ordered the test), Dr. Cook (who conducted the test) and Dr. Frey (Director, Outpatient Stroke Program) all confirmed the results.

Dr. Zabramski states “There is no doubt that the positive Patent Foramen Ovale (PFO) is devastating news to Bret and his family. The good news is that it is operable and treatable and we think we may have diagnosed the problem that caused the Transient Ischemic Attach (TIA) or warning stroke; however we feel it is highly unlikely this is connected to the brain hemorrhage he suffered just a few weeks earlier. Once again it is great that he quickly reacted to the severe numbness and got to the hospital immediately.”

Dr. Zabramski continues, “I realize Bret wants to make a full recovery so that he can be active with his family, attempt to attend the finale of Celebrity Apprentice and especially get back on the road to continue making music. Without a doubt he is very determined to get healthy and make a 100% recovery. Medically speaking it is a fantastic attitude both mentally and physically for him to have. However, Bret’s brain and body are not quite 100% yet, especially with the hole found in his heart. Further tests will be conducted throughout the week and I will have more information next week as to how this Patent Foramen Ovale (PFO) will be treated. For now, Bret will be treated with outpatient care which includes a daily injection of Lovenox (a blood thinner to reduce the chance of blood clots) and blood tests.”

Bret’s rep, Janna Elias, states “Bret wants everyone to know he cannot thank you enough for all of the well wishes, prayers, and good vibes you have sent his way. Even though these last few months have been tough on him and his family, especially this most recent setback, he is in good spirits, great medical hands and is positive and hopeful that everything is going to be OK. He is up, walking, talking, continuing his daily rehab and very happy to be alive but he has made it clear he is sick and tired of being in the hospital and is ready to rock again.”

Akshaya Tritiya, also known as Akha Teej is a Hindu holy day, that falls on the third Tithi (Lunar day) of Bright Half (Shukla Paksha) of Hindu month of Vaishakha. This day is ruled by god Vishnu, the preserver-god in the Hindu Trinity. It is also traditionally celebrated as the birth day of the Hindu sage Parashurama, the sixth avatar (incarnation) of the god Vishnu. According to Hindu mythology, on this day the Treta Yuga began and the river Ganges, the most holy and sacred river of India, descended to the earth from the heaven.

The word “Akshaya” means the never diminishing in Sanskrit and the day is believed to bring good luck and success. It is belived that if you do a charity on this day you will be blessed and will receive blessings many fold. Nowdays jewellers have turned the purity into a marketing gimmick. The day is particularly considered auspicious for starting new ventures. The legend states that any venture initiated on the auspicious day of Akshaya Tritiya shall continue to grow and bring prosperity. These Tithis are : 1st Tithi of Bright Half of Chaitra (starting of new year), 10th Tithi of Bright Half of Ashvina (Vijay Dashmi), 3rd Tithi of Bright Half of Vaishakha (Akshay Tritiya- Parshu Jyanti) & 1st Tithi of Bright Half of Karttika are called “Sade-Teen (3 ½) Muhurt”. The first three Tithis are counted as full & the last one as half Tithi, and constitute Sade - Teen Muhurt. The  a business, ground breaking for construction on the Akshaya Tritiya.

As per Hindu electional astrology (Muhurta) three Lunar days (Tithis) are held as most auspicious.The Sun and Moon are astrologically believed to be at their most exalted equal brightness on this day.Akshaya Tritiya is also called Navanna Parvam. Akshaya Tritiya falling on a Rohini star day is considered more auspicious.

Goa and Konkan regions, even today, are referred to as Parusurama Kshetra. Akshaya Tritiya, the third day of the bright-half of the lunar month of Vaisakha is considered as one of the most sacred days of the year.

The day is generally observed by fasting and worship Lord Vasudeva with rice grains. A dip in the river Ganga on this day is considered to be very auspicious.

In Bengal, on the day of the Akshay Tritiiya, “HalKhata” - a ceremony to start the new audit book is performed - with the worship of Ganesha and goddess Lakshmi. Bengalis perform many rites and rituals on this day.

This day is also most auspicious day for the Jat farming community. Early morning, a male member of Jat family goes to field with shovel.

Akshay Tritiiya is a holy day in Jain Calendar as well. People who observe the year-long alternative day fasting finish their Tapsaya this day.

Starting a new activity or buying valuables on this day is considered to bring luck and success. The religious merit that is acquired by giving gifts on this day is considered inexhaustible. Many buy new gold jewelry on this day. Most Jewel stores stock in new jewelry models for this occasion with “Lakshmi-inscribed” gold coins, diamond jewellery and golden dollars with the pictures of many gods and goddesses.
