Barely four months after Viveka Babajee allegedly committed suicide, yet another model and actor, Priyanshi Chowdhury aka Rinky (28), was found hanging in her city apartment on Thursday evening. Pending chemical analysis of her viscera, forensic experts couldn’t immediately say if it was a suicide.
Fashion world got the major shock on Thursday when popular model and actress Rinky alias Priyanshi Chowdhury committed suicide at her residence in Oshiara area of Goregaon in Mumbai.
Priyanshi who has starred in various movies like, Mere Baap Pehle Aap, Malamaal Weekly, Yeh Kaisa Prem Hai, Love Guru, along with TV shows like CID, and Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahi hanged herself while his boyfriend, Sahil Malik was painting the bedroom.
A police official informed, “Malik was at Chowdhury’s home and was painting the bedroom on Thursday. But as she was uncomfortable with the odour, Malik asked her to stay in the kitchen. When a courier boy delivered a letter for Chowdhury, he knocked on the kitchen door, but there was no response. He tried calling on her cell phone, after which he broke the door and found her hanging from the ceiling fan.”
It is said that Malik tried his best to save her but till then it was too late. He cut the rope and poured some water in Priyanshi mouth but she was unresponsive.
Surendra Paithankar, Senior police inspector of the Goregaon (West) police station said, “We rushed her to a private hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival. We have sent the body to Cooper hospital for post-mortem. Malik has said in his statement that the two were in a relationship since a year and were planning to get married within a week.”
“Malik also claims that his ex-girlfriend, Shamli Jain, also a model, had called Chowdhury from Delhi warning her to stay away from her boyfriend. Malik said that he had informed Chowdhury about Jain, but the call may have disturbed her,” another police official added.
“We have informed Chowdhury’s parents in Kolkata, and have also called Jain for inquiry. Since there appears to be no foul play, a case of accidental death has been registered,” police officer said.
