Facebook shutting down? Is this true or false? There is a rumor going around the internet especially on twitter & a few blogs that have been stating that on March 15, 2011, Facebook will be closing down. There is also a group on facebook that has already started a petition to stop this from happening.
Just a day ago, a post was published on CNN saying that the recent Goldman Sachs investment was the "beginning of the end" for Facebook. This sent so many people in a panic!
For some reason the viral rumor that Facebook would shut down on March 15th has run rampant. Avid users freaked, others seemed dismayed, but most, they just dismissed the rumors. And rightfully so. So what the deal with the reports that Facebook would be shutting down soon?
Facebook being deemed the most visited website in 2010. With more than 500 million active users, and people spending 700 billion minutes per month on Facebook.
There is no clear motive, but there may have been some kind of wacky confusion with Yahoo Video, which will be no longer on March 14th. Or it could be some users acting out showing their dismay that the social networking site took a $500 million investment from Goldman Sachs just last week. But Facebook has a stunning number of users, about 500 million, so the idea that after such a large investment and with so many users, that they would shut their doors?
