The CBI on Friday conducted raids at DMK-run Kalaignar TV in Chennai and premises of top brass in Tamil Nadu in connection with the 2G spectrum case.
The investigative department officials searched the residence of Kalaignar TV managing director Sharad Kumar and seized few documents during raids. The operation at the TV channel office concluded on Friday morning.
The raids was conducted days after Kalaignar TV channel had claimed that it had no link with the 2G spectrum allocation case and there is no connection between the Swan Telecom's chief Shahid Balwa and the Channel.
As per the allegation, The Swan Telecom, a company of DB group, had transferred Rs 200 crore to Kalaignar TV through its another company Cineyug Films. But the money was received by former Telecom Minister A Raja who is now in judicial custody for favouring the Mumbai-Based realty company DB Realty in the grant of 2G spectrum.
Earlier, Balwa was arrested and sent to the CBI custody over the allegation.
