Sri-Ramnavami is dedicated to the memory of Lord Rama. It occurs on the ninth day (navami). The festival falls on the ninth day of the Chaitra month of Hindu lunar year in ‘Shukla paksha’ or waxing moon.
Ramnavami occurs in the month of March. Celebrations begin with a prayer to the Sun early in the morning. At midday, when Lord Rama is supposed to have been born, a special prayer is performed. In northern India especially, an event that draws popular participation is the Ramnavami procession. The main attraction in this procession is a gaily decorated chariot in which four persons are dressed up as Rama, his brother Laxman, his queen Sita and his disciple Hanuman. The chariot is accompanied by several other persons dressed up in ancient costumes as work by Rama's solders. The procession is a gusty affair with the participants shouting praises echoing the happy days of Rama's reign.
Therefore, the festival is also referred to as Chaitra Masa Suklapaksha Navami.

August 15th is the Deadline : Anna Hasare for Lokpal Bill | What is Lokpal Bill for?
Hazare told his supporters to prepare for a bigger battle against the government, if the Parliament fails to pass the Lokpal Bill, a law that the country has been waiting for more than 40 years. Setting August 15 as the deadline, Hazare said that certain corrupt politicians might not let the bill pass easily and if need be a stronger fight against corruption would be required.
"This is the battle, we have to fight a war," said Hazare to his supporters.
Since there is no law for those who are corrupt, they are not scared to face charges. But, with the implementation of the Jan Lokpal Bill, corruption will be a serious force to reckon with.
Hazare said,"after this law all those who are corrupt will be scared, today no one is scared of law as it doesn’t punish corrupt people. Every citizen is suffering from corruption and people supported me for this reason."
According to him since all institutions are under governmental control they don't have autonomy and that is the main reason why corruption is so widespread, With the introduction of the Lokpal bill there will be autonomy and corruption would be wiped off.
"Every institution that has been formed to check corruption is under the government therefore it is not effective. All institution are under government that’s why they do not have autonomy. This new Jan Lokpal bill will bring autonomy in all the institutions, this will lead to the wiping of corruption," said Hazare.
Several people have criticised the movement and Anna's ways of forcing change. But Anna justifies his method of protest as he did not do it for his personal benefit but for the benefit of the entire country.
"Let the people say anything about our way of protest, this was not for my benefit, I did it for the country and for the citizens of India and for the poor people. My method of protest is justified. Since the government was not willing to talk therefore we had to start this agitation", adds Anna.
Anna truely believes that with the passing of this bill it will be ensured that corrupt ministers will go to jail.
Hazare ended his 98-hour long fast on Saturday after the Government bowed before the people power and agreed to most of the demands put forward by the veteran social activist and Gandhian.
The final agreement was made after three meetings held over two days and which showed no signs of either side willing to budge from their stand. The Government agreed to Hazare's demands. Infact, Anna and his supporters believe that the Government had agreed beyond their demands.
"The government has agreed beyond our demands. I am thankful to the Prime Minister, Sonia and Kapil Sibal. UPA government cares about the concerns of the people," said Swami Agnivesh.
In the agreement, the government has committed itself to introducing the new Lokpal Bill in the forthcoming monsoon session of Parliament. Union Law Minister Veerappa Moily will be the convener of the 10-member Joint Drafting Committee that will commence its work forthwith and evolve its own procedures to prepare the proposed legislation.
The five members of the civil society include Hazare, senior lawyers Shanti Bhushan and Prashant Bhushan, RTI activist Arvind Kejriwal and Karnataka Lokayukta Santosh Hegde. Shanti Bhushan will be the co-Chairman along with Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee.
The Government will be represented by Mukherjee, Sibal, Moily, Home Minister P Chidambaram and Water Resources Minister Salman Khurshid.
The Drafting Committee will complete its work by June 30 and the Cabinet approval will be taken before the start of the monsoon session. The monsoon session of Parliament is likely to start in the first week of July.
Though both sides talked tough on Friday morning, Hazare sent a draft to the government containing his demands and after discussions between Sibal and Hazare's emissaries Government sent a draft to the fasting leader.
The government draft conceded the demand for a joint committee and other details of the draft agreement.
Hazare demanded that there should be co-chairman from the civil society side with five members from both sides and that it should be constituted through a notification and not by a letter of the Law Ministry. The Government finally agreed to this proposal paving the way for a resolution.
He agreed to be part of the committee to keep pressure on the Government and for a minister to be chairman so that the "the Cabinet will accept the recommendations (of the committee).

The launch function was held at Juhu last evening with ace film director Mani Ratnam in his own words is “not just a fan of A R Rahman — the composer but a bigger admirer of Rahman — the person”, making him the obvious choice to unveil Nasreen Munni Kabir’s biographic work, titled A R Rahman - The Spirit of Music. The book elicits the heart-to-heart conversations between the author and composer about his life.
The book launch, in Juhu yesterday (6 April 2011), had Ram Gopal Varma, Ashutosh Gowariker, Imtiaz Ali, Anthony D’Souza, Subhash Ghai and Shivamani in attendance. Singers Javed Ali and Madhushree were also present.

Maruti Suzuki Recall Diesel Cars Of Three Models | Maruti Suzuki recalls 13157 diesel cars
Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. said Wednesday it will recall 13,157 diesel cars manufactured between Nov. 13 and Dec. 4, 2010, to inspect a defective auto part.
The recall will include 4,505 units of sedan Swift Dzire, 6,841 units of the Swift hatchback and 1,811 units of the Ritz small car, Maruti said. The recall doesn't include any exported cars.
Maruti will inspect a connecting rod bolt in all these cars and its dealers will contact the owners.
"If the connecting rod bolt is found defective, the company will replace the component free of cost," the company said.
The current recall is the second within 14 months by India's largest car maker by sales. The Indian unit of Suzuki Motor Corp. in February last year recalled more than 100,000 units of its small car A-Star to replace a defective auto part in the fuel tank.

Maruti also joins Honda Motor Co.'s local unit in recalling cars more than once since early 2010. Honda Siel Cars India Ltd. in February said it will recall 57,853 units of its City sedan, produced between November 2008 and December 2009, to replace a faulty part as part of a global exercise.
In January 2010 it also replaced defective power window switches that could cause fire in City sedans.
Tata Motors Ltd., India's biggest auto maker by revenue, offered additional safety equipment on the Nano after some incidents of the mini car catching fire. The company maintained the actions didn't constitute a recall.
Maruti didn't disclose the cost of the recall. The recall of A-Star is estimated to have cost up to 320 million rupees ($7.23 million), of which Maruti spent 100 million rupees to 120 million rupees while its part suppliers covered the rest.
Sathya Sai Baba's Health Condition Is Stable, Remains On Ventilator Support
Spiritual leader Sathya Sai Baba's condition is stable but he remains on ventilator to support his respiratory function, doctors treating him here said Tuesday.
According to a medical bulletin Baba remained on ventilator to support his respiratory function and on the CRRT (continuous renal replacement therapy) system to assist his kidney function.
The 84-year-old guru entered the Sri Satya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences last week for lung and chest congestion. A hospital statement said he was stable Tuesday, after describing his condition as critical.
Sai Baba has a huge international following, and devotees are flocking to his ashram in Puttaparti town in the southern Andhra Pradesh state. They consider him a living god and miracle worker who can conjure small objects such as rings and watches from his curly hair.
Police are on guard to prevent devotees from gathering outside the hospital in hopes of receiving a blessing from the guru.
A.N. Safaya, the director of the Sathya Sai Baba Hospital, said the guru’s health continued to be critical in spite of receiving CRT treatment for his failing kidney.
A medical bulletin reported no change in his condition since morning.
With the numbers of devotees beginning to swell, district police have cordoned off the hospital premises. Dignitaries have been requested not to come to Puttaparthi.
The Andhra Pradesh government has deputed senior doctors led by health secretary P. V. Ramesh to oversee the ailing guru’s medical treatment.
Hundreds of devotees fished out a statue of local goddess Sathyamma from a local reservoir. Some said the idol’s disappearance had caused the Baba’s ill health.

200 Fall Ill Due To Kuttu Ka Atta Food Poisoning in Delhi
Kuttu Atta ,the staple diet of fasting people on the eve of navratri is turning dangerous in many places. Around 200 persons have fallen ill after consuming Kuttu atta in Delhi alone.
Police detained 10 people in connection with the incident, which took place in east and north-east Delhi localities, and warned citizens not to buy buck wheat (Kuttu Atta) from open sack.
A senior police official said a total of 187 people -- 107 in east Delhi and 80 in north-east Delhi -- were admitted to various hospitals in the city.
Locals in Nandnagri, Gokalpuri, Jagatpuri, Gandhinagar, Kalyanpuri, Trilokpuri and Chilla Gaon were the most affected.
It all started at 7 am when patients complaining of vomiting, stomach ache, diarrhea, and dizziness started pouring in different hospitals including Lal Bahadur ShastriHospital, Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital and Dr Hedgewar Hospital.
"Nandu Masala Mill in Mandoli is found to be the manufacturer of the kuttu flour (buck wheat) consumed by the victims. Some persons have been detained in this connection. Raids are being conducted," Delhi Police spokesperson Rajan Bhagat said.
Locals alleged the mill owner was close to senior politicians.
A doctor with Lal Bahdur Shastri hospital said, "A number of people have been admitted since morning in our hospital. All have been diagnosed of food poisoning. However, none of them are serious. We have discharged a few of them."
Since we are running short of beds we have refereed some to GTB and other hospitals. "After inquiring from patients we found all have consumed food made from buckwheat as this is a compulsory ritual for the ongoing Navratra festival," a doctor with GTB hospital said.
Bhagat said the victims had purchased the buck wheat from open sack in retail.
"People are advised to check the expiry date of the packet containing Kuttu flour and the name of flour mills before using it. People are also advised not to purchase kuttu flour from open sack," Bhagat said.
The District Administration and emergency services have been alerted and teams of Food and Adulteration Department have been put in service, he said.
Meanwhile, Health Minister A K Walia directed K S Singh, Director, Prevention of Food Adulteration to conduct the probe into the incident. "Strong action would be taken against the guilty," he said.
Officials from Prevention of Food Adulteration department also conducted raids in various markets and lifted samples of wheat and other food articles. Walia said PFA has been told to lift samples in large number from East Delhi and other areas.

Election Commission Decides To Drop Sourav Ad
The Election Commission on Tuesday announced that it would not release its voter awareness campaign featuring Sourav Ganguly despite not having found “any reason to doubt his apolitical credentials”.
“ Since there is a complaint by a major political party that he has political affiliation and cannot be an EC ambassador, Sourav has expressed unhappiness at the controversy and has requested the commission not to use him as brand ambassador,” Akshay Routh, DG (Information, Education and Communication) of the West Bengal Election Commission said today.
The advertisement of Election Commission created controversy after the Trinamool Congress raised an objection to it citing Sourav’s inclination to the CPM.
Sourav then in a letter to the EC requested it to drop his promo. Akshay Routh today said that showing respect to Sourav’s emotions and sentiment, the EC has decided not to air the advertisement. Routh said the Election Commission had been happy earlier that Sourav had agreed to be its icon to develop interest among people to vote in the state Assembly elections. “Sourav is not only an icon of the Election Commission, but is also a national icon,” he said. The CEO officials said the state CEO and Election Commission are unanimous that they have found no proof of political involvement of Sourav in the CD provided by a political party.
However, the EC decided to drop the promo after the request was received from Sourav, they said. “We have decided to withdraw Sourav ad only to give respect to his emotions. We can use him for a different purpose,” Routh said.
“ Since there is a complaint by a major political party that he has political affiliation and cannot be an EC ambassador, Sourav has expressed unhappiness at the controversy and has requested the commission not to use him as brand ambassador,” Akshay Routh, DG (Information, Education and Communication) of the West Bengal Election Commission said today.
The advertisement of Election Commission created controversy after the Trinamool Congress raised an objection to it citing Sourav’s inclination to the CPM.
Sourav then in a letter to the EC requested it to drop his promo. Akshay Routh today said that showing respect to Sourav’s emotions and sentiment, the EC has decided not to air the advertisement. Routh said the Election Commission had been happy earlier that Sourav had agreed to be its icon to develop interest among people to vote in the state Assembly elections. “Sourav is not only an icon of the Election Commission, but is also a national icon,” he said. The CEO officials said the state CEO and Election Commission are unanimous that they have found no proof of political involvement of Sourav in the CD provided by a political party.
However, the EC decided to drop the promo after the request was received from Sourav, they said. “We have decided to withdraw Sourav ad only to give respect to his emotions. We can use him for a different purpose,” Routh said.

He ruled out media speculations that he might join any IPL franchise as a coach. “I am not going to join any IPL team. I will head straight to my home in Cape Town.”
He showered praise on Indian skipper Dhoni and Team India. "Gautam Gambhir is better than me", said Kirsten.
He also extended his warm regards to BCCI, Team staffs and supporting staffs.
“Honour to be part of this team, the best team so far.”

Microsoft's webOS luvvin' partner HP is among the PC manufacturers getting copies of early Windows 8 code, according to reports.
HP and other Windows PC OEMs are reported to be getting builds of Microsoft's next desktop operating system known as milestone 3 – seriously pre-beta stuff.
They're sucking down the code through Microsoft's Connect external testing system.
Doing some back-of-envelope numbers based on earlier reports, Microsoft was due to start coding milestone 3 at the end of February, it seems this tranche of Windows 8 code is a month old.
What are PC makers getting, exactly?
According to leaked screen shots on different sites, something called History Vault, which is described to be analogous to Mac OS X's Time Machine for back up.
There's also a system-reset feature that'll let you reset your machine and retain your data once that inevitable day comes, often very soon, that your Windows PC starts slowing to a crawl.
