vishu festival is celebrated in the state of Kerala in southern India. The festival marks the first day of the Malayalam year and falls in the month Medam (April-May). The Malayalam word Kani means literally "the one you see first," so Vishukkani means "what is seen first Vishu." It Vishukani is a panorama of promising products, including flowers, fruit and vegetables, clothes and gold coins. The Vishukkani, also called Kanikanal is inseparable from Vishu.
Most of this festival is celebrated by all Hindus with different names such as Assam today called Bihu in Punjab Baisakhi and in Tamil Nadu Puthandu. It is one of the most important days in Kerala.
Before Vishu Day People are usually prepared Vishukani ", The Vishu Kani is an important observance of Vishu festival.
The Vishu Kani Kanal is performed during the early morining on the Vishu day (April 14th) in which gold ornaments, fresh white cloth, a measure of rice or paddy, flowers of the Konna tree (Cussia fistula), halved jack fruits, oil lamps, halved coconuts, mirror, yellow cucumbe etc are placed along with Lord Krishna's idol. People come blind folded in the early morning to view the Vishu kani which is believed to bring them good luck in the next year.
