According to the Hindu mythology, eating during the eclipse is supposed to be unholy and is forbidden. This concept has stayed with us right from the ancient times. According to our religion, during the solar eclipse eating anything is forbidden because of the fact that the bacteria in the food multiply at a fast pace. Food articles and water is unpurified by active bacteria’s during the eclipse.
The scientific reason behind all of this is that during the eclipse the digestion system of a person weakens, because of which if food is consumed during that tenure, it could possibly cause some digestion and pathological problems.
According to the Hindu dharma, ten hours prior to the lunar eclipse, the effects starts showing. Also, a custom ofprayers and chanting has been made before the consumption of food during this time.
