Miami overcame a six point halftime deficit to capture a 81-72 victory over the Missouri State Bears. The Hurricanes trailed 32-26 at the half before erupting for 55 second half points. They outscored the Bears by 15 points after halftime cruising home to a nine-point lead.
Durand Scott scored 20 points to lead Miami while Adrian Thomas added 16. Miami capitalized on its opportunities shooting 50% from the field while converting 21-24 attempts at the free throw line.
Missouri Sate was led by Adam Leonard’s 26 points. Leonard was 7-8 from beyond the arc and 9-11 from the field overall. As a team, The Bears connected on 13-29 attempts from three-point range. Kyle Weems added 18 points for Missouri State.
The Bears led the Hurricanes by as many as nine points in the first half before Malcolm Grant’s three-point buzzer beater sent Miami to the locker room with some momentum. The Hurricanes took the lead just under two minutes into the second half and never looked back.
Miami advances to play the winner of Alabama and New Mexico with a trip to the NIT semifinals in New York at stake.
