UN Children’s Fund (Unicef) and Madhya Pradesh government together held a long day workshop for determining the role of media in Census 2011.
Social Networking sites like Facebook and Twitter will be used for making people aware about the importance of Census 2011
Two pages related to Census 2011 information were already created on Facebook. Brand Ambassadors for the Census 2011 work in Madhya Pradesh are, Cricketer Sachin Tendulkar and Actress Priyanka Chopra. Lyricist Gulzar and television actress Divyanka Tripathi would also be working along with Sachin Tendulkar and Priyanka Chopra as brand ambassadors in Madhya Pradesh.

Sachin Sinha (Director of the Directorate for Census work) said, While the centre’s brand ambassadors are Sachin Tendulkar and actress Priyanka Chopra, lyricist Gulzar and television actress Divyanka Tripathi would be the brand ambassadors for census work in Madhya Pradesh.

It is a real challenge for us to include everyone – from beggars to the elite class – in census.

The officials monitoring the Facebook Page are also looking to educate the Indian youth with regular updates and by replying to posts/comments made on the page. It's a good initiative by the Govt. of India, what do you think?
